Photographic projects (FAQ7)

With respect to photographs, particularly with color photographs, digitization can also provide an opportunity to digitally correct for the effects of chemical degradation in the film emulsion which lead to such problems as "pink fade" where the yellow component of the dye disproportionately fades over time leaving the photo with a dominant pink or magenta hue.

Slavic related digital projects involving photographs usually do not present problems specific to their Slavic subject matter, so general guidelines for the planning of digital image projects can often be followed. For example, guidelines for digital image projects have been prepared by the Digital Library Federation.
