About the event: The exhibit “After Chernobyl,” with photographs by Michael Forster Rothbart, will be featured June 12 to July 8 at the Fireside Gallery, Bethel Lutheran Church, 312 Wisconsin Avenue, Madison. The photos tell the story of people living their lives in territories still contaminated from the Chernobyl disaster 22 years ago. The opening reception will be June 22, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The exhibit will move to the UW Health Sciences Learning Center atrium at 750 Highland Avenue, Madison on July 9 and remain on view to August 6.

Open Meeting on Chernobyl

Sponsors: Friends of Chernobyl Centers U.S.(FOCCUS), Center for Russia, East Europe, and Central Asia of the UW-Madison (CREECA), the Madison Arts Commission, and the Open World program of the Library of Congress.

About the event: An Open Town Meeting on Chernobyl will be held at Lowell Hall, 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m. This will be an opportunity for interested students, faculty and community members to participate in an active discussion about the Chernobyl accident and its after-effects with guest panel of five Ukrainian professionals who live and work in the contaminated zones. There will be ample time for questions from the audience. In addition, a short photographic presentation will highlight as it exists for people 22 years after the Chernobyl disaster.
